Summer National Events Update

The invitation lists for the British Swimmer Championships, ASA Championships, Scottish Summer Meet and Swim Wales Summer Open Meet are now available at www.swimmingresults.org/ (towards the bottom of the page).

This is the first year for the new competition structure recently implemented by British Swimming and a huge well done to all our swimmers who have qualified for these meets.

VACANCY: Water Polo Lead Coach

4 hours per week

(Wednesdays 6-8pm & Sundays 5-7pm)

Voluntary Basis

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Water Polo Lead Coach, qualified to a minimum of UKCC/QCF Level 1, at Durham City Amateur Swimming and Water Polo Club. The position’s main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Determining the Water Polo programme and content at all levels
  • Devising a rolling 12-month forward training programme for all of the Water Polo Sections
  • Monitoring the Water Polo programme for all squads to ensure that the agreed programme is delivered
  • Determining the coaching rota
  • Organising the provision of coaching to cover absences when necessary
  • Determining the criteria for squad membership and ensure fair and regular assessments of Water Polo Players

The successful candidate must be willing to undertake Level 2 (if not already) qualification within 6 months. The Club will assist with funding professional development opportunities such as UKCC/QCF Qualifications, NVQ; BTEC & YMCA courses providing they are beneficial to the above position.

Dear all,
 
Just a brief mail to officially introduce myself as the new Secretary for the Club. I also attach an introduction from fellow Committee Member Fiona Milnes, our new Welfare Officer.
 
Some of you will be aware that our Club website was recently suffering from some technical issues however I am pleased to confirm these have now been resolved. If any member does not yet have login details for the Members Only areas please contact Dave Low and these will be provided. Also the website has now been updated with all the contact details of the new Club Committee.
 
I will endeavour to provide support to all at the Club, and therefore please feel free to contact me on anything Club related - I'll be happy to assist.

Home Nations Summer Championships

Any swimmer who wishes to be ranked by their Country of International Representation for Home Nation meets this summer, rather than the default of being ranked on the basis of Country or ranked club is required to email This email address is being protected from spambots. Junior League - Sunday 10th May

Well done to our Junior League team for their performance at Stanley last weekend. The team list for the final heat, to be held at the Tynemouth Swimming Pool on Sunday 10th May, is now available and has been e-mailed out to selected swimmers.

Swimmers will need to meet by 10.30am on the day in the coach park at Freeman's Quay so that the bus can depart in good time. The expected return time to Freeman's Quay is around 2.45pm, but this is dependent on the finish time of the gala.

Could all parents please confirm their swimmer(s) availability to Ben Hatchett by this coming Sunday (3rd May) to ensure we have a full team. If anyone has any queries please do not hesitate to contact Ben.

South Tyneside Spring Meet Results

A huge well done to the large team of Durham City swimmers who competed at the South Tyneside meet over the weekend of 18/19 April. There were a huge number of PBs and the full results can be downloaded below.
